The premium television market in Indonesia continues to expand as consumer interest grows in larger screens, high image quality, and increasingly precise lighting technology. One of the technologies increasingly offered in this segment is Mini LED, featuring denser dimming systems and the ability to display high brightness levels.

TCL Indonesia has introduced the C7L SQram-Mini LED TV as a product targeting this segment. The device is equipped with up to 1,352 Precise Dimming Zones, peak brightness levels of up to 3,000 nits HDR on models 65 inches and above, and colour coverage of up to 100 per cent BT.2020.

According to the company, Mini LED performance is determined not only by the number of lighting zones but also by the hardware architecture used. TCL has developed a combination of Micro OD (Optical Distance), Super Condensed Micro Lens, and light-emitting chips to enhance lighting control in every zone.

This technology is designed to reduce the halo or blooming effect that often appears around bright objects against dark backgrounds. Simultaneously, the Mini LED system maintains high brightness levels without the risk of burn-in commonly associated with some other panel technologies.

On the C7L, this lighting system is combined with TCL All-domain Halo Control Technology. This technology is used to regulate light distribution to ensure image details are preserved in both dark and bright scenes.

The television also utilises an HVA 2.0 Pro panel from CSOT. This panel is claimed to have a higher native contrast ratio and a low-reflection coating of up to 0.5 per cent to reduce ambient light reflections.

Regarding colour reproduction, TCL has integrated Super QLED and Ultra Colour Filter technologies. Both are aimed at expanding the colour gamut, increasing colour purity, and smoothing transitions between shades.

The company stated that these improvements are intended to ensure colours appear not only more vivid but also more consistent across various types of content, ranging from films and sports matches to gaming.

Beyond visuals, the audio aspect is also part of this device’s development. TCL has partnered with Bang & Olufsen for the audio system on the C7L, focusing on clarity, detail, and sound balance.

Evan Tang, CEO of TCL Indonesia, noted that Indonesian consumers show interest in televisions with premium image quality while still considering affordability.

“Since its availability in Indonesia, the C7L has received a positive response from consumers seeking premium image quality at a more affordable price. We will continue to educate the market on the advantages of SQD-Mini LED technology, including Precise Dimming Zones and precise light control, which are the core values of the C7L,” said Evan.

TCL assesses that the premium television market is no longer competing solely on screen size. Lighting efficiency, colour accuracy, contrast, reflection levels, and motion handling capabilities are becoming increasingly important factors for consumers.

These developments are driving TV manufacturers to continuously improve Mini LED systems with denser lighting zones and more complex image processing algorithms.

TCL also relies on TCL CSOT as the basis for panel development and display technology. The company stated that the integration of panel manufacturing, research, and development is a key factor allowing new technologies to be implemented more rapidly in commercial products.

Based on Omdia data cited by TCL, the company holds the top global position in Mini LED TV shipment share for 2025. TCL also claims the top position in shipment share for televisions 75 inches and larger in the same year.

Furthermore, the company stated it holds the top position in Google TV shipment share throughout the period from 2021 to 2025, according to Omdia data.

The C7L is part of TCL’s SQD-Mini LED lineup, alongside the C8L and the flagship X11L series. The presence of these various models indicates that manufacturers are increasingly segmenting the Mini LED market into different price points and specifications.

Amidst intensifying competition in the premium television market, technologies such as precise dimming, enhanced colour gamut, colour filters, and low-reflection panels are expected to become primary areas of competition between manufacturers.

For consumers, these developments expand the choices of premium televisions that offer not only large screens but also enhanced image quality, light control, and a more integrated audio experience.
