MIND ID to Boost Coal, Nickel Ore, and Bauxite Production in 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) - MIND ID, the state-owned mining holding company, targets an increase in production of several key commodities such as coal, nickel ore, and bauxite in 2026 to achieve the company’s long-term goals. “Coal from PTBA (PT Bukit Asam) shows a positive trend, up 5 percent to 49.5 million tonnes. This reflects stable demand and production optimisation,” said MIND ID’s President Director Maroef Sjamsoeddin during a Hearing with Commission XII of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Monday. Meanwhile, PTBA’s coal production realisation in 2025 is 47.2 million tonnes. Tin production is also targeted to grow to 29.1 thousand tonnes, up 63 percent from the 2025 realisation of 17.8 thousand tonnes. The bauxite production target jumps significantly by 89 percent to 5.3 million wet metric tonnes (wmt) in 2026 from the 2025 realisation of 2.8 million wmt, while nickel ore increases by 33 percent to 24.4 million wmt from the 2025 realisation of 18.3 million wmt. On the other hand, some commodities such as aluminium and nickel matte are experiencing production adjustments in line with portfolio optimisation strategies. Aluminium drops 2 percent from 280 thousand tonnes to 275 thousand tonnes in 2025. Then, nickel matte falls 5 percent from 72 thousand tonnes of nickel (TNi) to 68.4 thousand TNi. Maroef emphasised that 2026 will be a crucial phase in strengthening the company’s long-term foundation, not only in terms of production volume but also in terms of sustainability. “2026 is the foundation for achieving long-term targets, including improvements in the sustainability of production for all commodities,” said Maroef. As the holding company for Indonesia’s mining industry, MIND ID recorded revenue of Rp159 trillion or 4 percent above target in 2025. “MIND ID recorded revenue of Rp159 trillion or 4 percent above target,” said Maroef.
