MIND ID: Human Capital Key to Sustainable Economic Growth Beyond Mining

The development of Indonesia’s future requires not only investment in infrastructure and technology, but also in the people who will manage and create added value from all of that economic potential, according to state-owned mining holding company MIND ID.

Corporate Secretary of MIND ID, Pria Utama, stated that strengthening human resources is a key instrument to ensure the economic benefits of mining activities can extend beyond the operational lifespan of the mines.

One such effort is being carried out by MIND ID together with PT TIMAH Tbk through the #MINDucation programme at Pemali Boarding School in Bangka Belitung, run in collaboration with Ruangguru since 2024. The programme is aimed at expanding opportunities for the younger generation in the region to access further education, while building a pool of human resources who can later enter various economic sectors and professions.

As a result, 31 out of 33 participants in the 2025/2026 academic year have been accepted into their chosen state universities, a success rate of 94 percent. The remaining two participants are continuing their education at private universities.

According to Pria, this achievement is significant in the context of regional economic development, as increased access to higher education paves the way for the formation of a skilled and professional workforce, while expanding opportunities for economic mobility among the youth.

In the long term, human capital development also serves as a foundation for economic diversification in regions that have historically been closely linked to natural resource-based industries. Improving the quality of the workforce has the potential to boost productivity, community income, and entrepreneurial capacity, ultimately strengthening the regional economic structure.

“Through this programme, MIND ID consistently supports improving access to and the quality of education as part of a long-term investment. We want to ensure that more young Indonesians have the opportunity to develop their potential and are ready to meet the needs of future development,” said Pria.
