MIND ID Builds Inclusive Education Ecosystem for Children with Disabilities
MIND ID Group is building an inclusive education ecosystem in various operational areas as an effort to expand learning access for children with disabilities. Through learning assistance, provision of educational facilities, skills training, and therapy services, the company seeks to provide more equal learning opportunities for children with disabilities.
Inclusive education remains a challenge in Indonesia. Many children with disabilities still face limited access to adequate learning facilities, assistance, and therapy services. Yet, the opportunity to obtain a quality education is the right of every child without exception.
One programme is run by the Precious Metals Processing and Refining Business Unit (UBPP) of ANTAM through an Inclusive School Programme in East Jakarta. Over the course of one year, six children with disabilities received intensive assistance that focused not only on the learning process but also on skills development and confidence building.
The programme is equipped with learning facilities such as laptops, comfortable study rooms, and various other supporting amenities. Participants also received sewing and screen-printing skills training, enabling them to independently produce items such as bags and pencil cases.
The assistance has yielded positive results. On average, participants’ cognitive abilities improved by around 80 to 90 percent during the programme. Beyond academics, the participants also achieved success in various competitions, with four participants winning taekwondo championships and two becoming swimming champions.
“My child used to feel inferior and lacked confidence because of limitations in formal schooling. Thanks to the assistance from ANTAM, he is now more active, no longer feels inferior, and Alhamdulillah managed to become a Taekwondo champion from Dankbrimob,” said Thomas Hatmadi, a parent of one of the participants.
Efforts to build an inclusive education ecosystem are also being undertaken by PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (INALUM) in Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra. Through the Taman Asuh Sayang Anak (Tamasya) programme, the company developed PAUD INATA as a learning space that provides free and subsidised education services for 50 underprivileged toddlers.
The programme was further strengthened with the inauguration of Rumah Inklusi Smart Kids in November 2025. This facility became the first therapy centre in Batu Bara Regency to provide services for children with disabilities. Its presence makes it easier for families to obtain assistance without having to seek services in other areas.
The availability of this learning space and therapy centre also helps working parents, particularly traders around the market area, to earn a living without neglecting their children’s educational and developmental needs.
“The presence of PAUD and this Inclusive Home has greatly eased my burden because my child with a disability can receive a proper and free education without me having to worry while I am selling,” said Kalimadew, a beneficiary parent who trades daily at Pasar Delima.
These various programmes demonstrate that building inclusive education is not only about providing learning spaces but also about creating an ecosystem that supports children with disabilities to develop according to their potential.
Through collaboration with communities in its operational areas, MIND ID members continue to expand access to education, assistance, and therapy services for children with disabilities. These efforts are expected to open more opportunities for them to learn, achieve, and face the future on a more equal footing.
