MIND ID Booth at Invirotech Converts 51 kg of Organic Waste into Economic Value
Visitors to the MIND ID booth at the Invirotech 2026 event successfully collected 51 kilogrammes of organic waste through a maggot cultivation-based waste management programme. The initiative demonstrates how waste can be transformed into economically valuable resources through the application of a circular economy. The Holding Industri Pertambangan Indonesia MIND ID, through its booth titled ‘MINERALive: Tambang yang Menghidupkan’ (Mines that Enliven), attracted 1,722 visitors at the event organised by the Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment. The high number of visitors reflects strong public interest in sustainability programmes, particularly the waste management initiatives run by the MIND ID Group. Beyond gaining information, visitors directly participated in various waste management activities presented by the company. One programme that drew significant attention was organic waste management based on maggot cultivation. During Invirotech 2026, visitors collected 51 kilogrammes of organic waste, which was then used as maggot feed. This achievement highlights the potential for waste reduction at the source through public participation, while serving as an example of sustainable waste management practices at the community level. The programme not only produces organic fertiliser but also provides a direct demonstration of circular economy practices, where organic waste is processed into economically valuable resources. The maggots and fertiliser produced are subsequently utilised as animal feed by micro and small enterprise partners fostered by the MIND ID Group in Bogor. The programme delivers environmental benefits whilst creating added economic value for the community. To further encourage public participation, MIND ID also distributed 150 bottles of liquid fertiliser to visitors to support tree conservation in their respective neighbourhoods. MIND ID also featured plastic waste management activities through a plastic crusher machine, representing the application of the waste bank concept at the community level. This activity demonstrated how plastic waste can be reprocessed into usable materials. The company also showcased 3D printer technology, illustrating the potential for inorganic waste to be transformed into various value-added products through innovative approaches. A visitor named Nugroho expressed admiration for the concept presented by MIND ID, noting that the booth was one of the most interactive, allowing visitors to see and directly try various sustainability programmes run by the company. MIND ID’s participation in Invirotech 2026 is part of the company’s commitment to delivering tangible positive impacts for the environment and society. Division Head of Sustainability at MIND ID, Binahidra Logiardi, stated that these initiatives demonstrate how waste management forms part of the company’s value creation and risk management strategy. He explained that the Sustainability Pathway serves as an instrument to manage impacts, mitigate risks, and create long-term added value beneficial to the company, the environment, and the community.
