Minangkabau Association Reports Abu Janda to Bareskrim Polri

The Central Leadership Council of the Minangkabau Family Association (DPP IKM) has reported social media activist Permadi Arya, known as Abu Janda, over alleged comments describing West Sumatra as ‘barbar’. ‘Yes, we have filed the report,’ said IKM Secretary General Braditi Moulevey when contacted in Padang on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.

Braditi explained the report followed concerns from IKM officials and Minangkabau communities both in their homeland and overseas regarding Abu Janda’s remarks. He stated that Abu Janda’s alleged comments during a church event in the US were suspected to constitute hate speech.

Video clips circulating online show Abu Janda reportedly referring to both West Java and West Sumatra as ‘barbar’. Prior to pursuing legal action, Braditi said DPP IKM had first discussed the matter internally with the organisation’s legal department.
