PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero), operating as InJourney Airports, is continuing the development of four airports in 2026, including Minangkabau Airport in Padang, West Sumatra, as part of a transformation of airport infrastructure and facilities to improve service quality and the passenger experience. “This year we are continuing the development programme at four airports as part of the premises transformation,” said InJourney Airports President Director Mohammad R. Pahlevi in Padang, West Sumatra, on Thursday (18/6/2026). He revealed the development programme is being carried out at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Minangkabau Airport in Padang, and Depati Amir Airport in Pangkalpinang. Pahlevi stated the essence of the transformation is to continuously move and change for the better through various sustainable improvements to raise service standards for airport visitors and passengers. According to him, airport development is part of the premises transformation, which focuses on delivering infrastructure and facilities oriented towards customer experience within the airport environment. He noted that the development of Indonesia’s two busiest airports, Soekarno-Hatta and I Gusti Ngurah Rai, can create the best service standards to be implemented at other airports. “The services at these two airports can become a benchmark for other airports. The development is carried out to improve service and comfort, as well as to meet global standards, thereby improving the position of both airports in the list of the world’s top 100 airports,” Pahlevi explained. Development at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport this year includes work at the passenger terminal to increase capacity to 32 million passengers per year, following earlier work on the landside. After the passenger terminal, capacity enhancement will be carried out on the airside. The terminal development covers optimisation of the departure pier at Gates 1-9 of the International Terminal, including construction of a connecting pier, landscaping and boarding seat area arrangement, as well as expansion and beautification of public facilities. In addition, revitalisation of supporting facilities and services is underway at the semi-outdoor commercial area, check-in area, and departure gates. A connecting bridge between the Domestic Terminal and International Terminal is also being built at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. Pahlevi said the optimisation at the international departure gates will further enhance passenger comfort, as will the connecting bridge between the International and Domestic Terminals, which provides a dedicated route for passengers with connecting flights. “This cuts down check-in time,” he clarified. Meanwhile, at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the development programme includes the continuation of Terminal 3 beautification and the revitalisation of Terminal 1A. This year’s Terminal 3 beautification covers all commercial tenant facades in the departure area, all departure boarding gate areas, the check-in interior, and public facilities, namely toilets in the departure and arrival areas. “Additional facilities are also being added to the international boarding lounge, including a game corner,” he disclosed.
