Mina Services to be Key Focus for DPR Hajj Oversight Team Next Year
The DPR’s Hajj Oversight Team for 2026 will focus on pilgrim services including tents, food, and transportation in Mina for next year’s Hajj season, according to team member Selly Andriany Gantina.
She stated that issues with pilgrim services were found in Mina, making it a priority area for oversight. ‘The problems are in Mina, and this is our focus as the peak of Hajj occurs in Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina. Mina will be a key focus for Parliament moving forward,’ she said.
Selly noted that overall government services for pilgrims in Medina and Mecca this year were better than last year, but there are still areas for improvement. One issue was tent facilities, including uncomfortable tents and inadequate toilet facilities. ‘I found several issues with tent facilities, especially toilets and tents that are uncomfortable for pilgrims, forced upon them,’ she said after visiting Mina, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday, 28 May.
She also highlighted poor sanitation in the tent facilities, stressing the importance of clean water for ablution. ‘Toilet sanitation is crucial as pilgrims require ample water for wudu,’ she added.
