Mimika Regent Receives Kanjeng Raden Aryo Title from Surakarta Palace
Solo (ANTARA) - Mimika Regent of Central Papua Province, Johannes Rettob, has received the title of Kanjeng Raden Aryo from the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace. The conferment ceremony took place at the Sasana Narendra of the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace in Solo, Central Java, on Monday evening. Alongside Johannes, his wife, Suzy Susana Herawati Rettob, was also granted the title of Kanjeng Mas Ayu. “This evening we attended an invitation conveyed by the Surakarta Palace to be bestowed the honorary title of Kanjeng Raden Aryo upon me,” he said. On the occasion, he expressed his appreciation to the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace for conferring the honorary title objectively. “I extend my thanks to the Surakarta Palace because I was chosen to receive this award,” he said. He considered the Palace’s initiative to be very positive as it provides an opportunity for regional figures. “They have opened a wide space, so that we in Eastern Indonesia are also given the chance to receive this title,” he said. Meanwhile, the award was presented jointly with several other figures. “We confer this award in connection with government officials or figures in Indonesia who care about cultural preservation,” said Pengageng Sasana Wilapa PB XIV Purbaya GKRP Timoer Rumbay Kusuma Dewayani. He stated the award was given as a form of appreciation for the active role of the Mimika Regent, who continues to support the development of the Surakarta Palace. “He happens to be one of the figures who wishes to assist and support the Surakarta Palace; that was our consideration in bestowing this honour upon him,” he said. He expressed hope for future cooperation between the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace and the Mimika Regency. “The hope is that collaboration can be established going forward. Hopefully, there are some programmes we can work on together, perhaps a cultural exchange from the Surakarta Palace to Papua,” he said.
