Timika (ANTARA) — Mimika District Police conducted free health check-ups for residents in the remote village of Kapiraya, Central West Mimika Sub-district, Mimika Regency, Central Papua.

Head of Public Relations at Mimika District Police, Inspector Hempi Ona, said in a statement in Timika on Saturday that the health screenings were a form of police concern for communities living in remote areas.

“Medical and Health (Dokkes) personnel from Mimika District Police carried out health check-ups as a form of our care for the residents there,” Hempi said.

He said that during the examinations, officers found four residents suffering from malaria, one resident with a gastric acid disorder, three residents experiencing coughs and influenza, one resident with a throat infection, one resident with a dental cavity, two residents with fever, and one resident with high blood pressure.

He noted that Kapiraya residents enthusiastically welcomed the free health screening programme carried out by Mimika District Police.
