Milk formula getting scarce
MALANG, East Java: Fears of violent election campaigns have
driven townspeople to shops and markets to stock up on essential
goods.
The unprecedented shopping spree has caused several basic
commodities, including baby formula and instant noodles, to
"disappear" from the market, Antara reported.
"Although prices have not increased, some basic commodities
are becoming scarce, said Nina, spokesperson for Ratu shopping
mall.
To make things worse, Nina said, instant noodle producers had
cut production due to the economic crisis.
"We re very worried about the political situation. We have
bought basic commodities that will last until the end of June,"
said Sumiati, a housewife.
