Military's rural activities inspected
JAKARTA (JP): A team responsible for the operational affairs of the Armed Forces' (ABRI) 60th rural development program (AMD) launched a three-day field inspection to observe the implementation of the project in Greater Jakarta.
During the inspection, which started on Feb. 16, the team visited several areas in East Jakarta, Tangerang and Bekasi where soldiers joined hands with the local people to develop their localities.
Jakarta Military Command spokesman Lt. Col. DJ. Nachrowi in a statement on Friday said that the inspection was aimed at getting a clear view of the implementation of the project as guidance for the next one.
"The joint project was to strengthen the unity between ABRI and the people and to motivate the local community to develop their areas," he said.
The areas visited by the team included Malaka Jaya subdistrict in Duren Sawit district, Lubang Buaya and Munjul subdistricts in Cipayung, East Jakarta; Rawa Burung village in Kosambi district in Tangerang and Wanajaya village in Cibitung district in Bekasi.
Activities in the project included repair work on gutters, street networks, construction of mosques, neighborhood chiefs offices and security guard posts.
The team also visited village heads' offices and schools to observe the dissemination of information on defense, security and order and national unity related to current national stability. (ivy)
