Militaryman detained for robbery

JAKARTA: A presidential security guard has been detained by the Jakarta Military Police Command for allegedly robbing an ojek (motorcycle taxi) driver.

Private Suyitno was sent to the city military police by the Tagerang military police on Saturday, city military police commander Col. Subagdja Djiwardipraja was quoted by detik.com as saying on Sunday.

The incident started on Saturday night when Suyitno asked an ojek driver in Tangerang to drive him a short distance. On the way Suyitno asked the driver to stop, asked for the vehicle's documents and then tried to seize the motorcycle.

The victim cried for help and soon Suyitno was surrounded by people, who started to beat him.

Suyitno was saved by passing police officers.--JP
