Military to sell cheap food
JAKARTA (JP): Outgoing Jakarta Military Commander Maj. Gen. Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has invited Jakartans to come and buy cheap essential goods at the command's cooperative shops.
"We invite you to purchase basic items here and we promise that you will get a first class service," Sjafrie said on Friday.
The command's spokesman Lt. Col. D.J. Nachrowi said yesterday that the cooperatives could be found at all military district offices and other bases of the Jakarta Military Command.
"The cheap goods are available to anybody and the offer will end when people no longer need cheap food," he said.
Goods on sale at the cooperatives are supplied by the City Logistics Agency, Nachrowi said.
Last month, cooperatives run by the Jakarta Military Command began to hold weekly bazaars selling essential goods at cheap prices.
The first of the bazaars was held at Sarua Lama village in Ciputat, Tangerang, on June 14.
The bazaar sold rice at between Rp 1,100 and Rp 2,000 per kilogram, sugar at Rp 2,250 per kilogram, eggs at Rp 3,000 per kilogram, cooking oil for Rp 3,900 per kilogram and instant noodles at Rp 1,000 for three packs. (ivy)
