Military to host Bali car rally
JAKARTA (JP): About 125 drivers are expected to compete in the two-day Bali Wisata Rally from March 29.
Korem 163 Wirastya, a district military command in Bali, is holding the rally to celebrate its anniversary.
The Indonesia Motor Association's Bali chapter, AGS Club and Rally Tama Group will help run the event with sponsorship from Gudang Garam.
The drivers, from Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java and Bali, will race around a 600-kilometer circuit of the island to win a Suzuki motorcycle.
The rally starts in front of the military command's headquarters on Jl. Jend. Sudirman at 1 p.m. on March 29 and ends at the Denpasar Hotel Radisson at 8 a.m. the following day.
The rally is split into four stages. The first stage is Denpasar-Gianyar-Klungkung-Amlepura Besakih-Kintamani, the second stage is Kintamani-Bangli-Gianyar-Denpasar, the third stage is Denpasar-Kuta-Sempidi-Tanah Lot-Tabanan-Bedugul and the fourth stage is Bedugul-Sangeh-Mambal-Ubung-Denpasar.
People can enter at Rally Tama Group on Jl. Barito I/7, South Jakarta, and AGS Club on Jl. Melati No. 35, Denpasar.
It costs Rp 50,000 to enter a driver and navigator. Entries close March 26. Late entries cost Rp 75,000 on March 27 and Rp 100,000 on March 28. Passengers must pay Rp 20,000 each. (lnt)
