The Military Prosecutor’s Office 07-II Jakarta has completed its examination of the formal and material requirements of the case file in the acid attack on activist Andrie Yunus. Head of Military Prosecutor II-07 Jakarta, Colonel Corps of Law (Chk) Andri Wijaya, stated that the file is now being processed for the prompt submission of the minutes of legal opinion and legal advice to the Case Handover Officer. “The Andrie Yunus case file has been reviewed and declared complete,” Andri told Tempo via WhatsApp message on Monday, 13 April 2026. He explained that after the minutes and legal advice are provided to the Case Handover Officer, the Prosecutor’s Office will await the issuance of the Case Handover Decision or Skeppera. Andri noted that this Skeppera will serve as the basis for the Military Prosecutor to draft the indictment for prompt submission to the Military Court for trial. “Regarding the trial schedule, that falls under the authority of the Military Court II-08 Jakarta in this instance,” the mid-ranking officer said. Last week, the Military Police Centre handed over the case file and evidence to the Military Prosecutor 07-II Jakarta. If the file is declared complete, the Andrie case will proceed to trial at the Military Court 08-II Jakarta. The TNI Military Police Centre has stated that four perpetrators were involved in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. They are NDP, SL, BHW, and ES, from the air and naval branches. NDP holds the rank of captain, SL and BHW are first lieutenants, while ES is a second sergeant. The handover of the case file from the TNI Military Police Centre to the Military Prosecutor has drawn criticism from various parties, including Andrie Yunus. In a statement dated 3 April, Andrie rejected the legal process for his case being tried through the military justice mechanism. The Deputy Coordinator of Kontras stated that regardless of whether the perpetrators are civilians or military personnel, they should be tried in a general court. According to him, processing the case through military justice risks failing to deliver justice for the victim. He views the military court as often becoming a space for impunity for soldiers who commit legal and human rights violations. Andrie was doused with corrosive chemical liquid on 12 March while passing through Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Central Jakarta. Medical records indicate that Andrie suffered burns over more than 20 percent of his body due to the attack carried out by TNI BAIS personnel.
