Military Prosecutor II-07 Jakarta visited the National Central Public Hospital Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) with the intention of visiting Andrie Yunus, the Deputy Coordinator of the External Division of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS), who is undergoing treatment after being doused with acid by TNI soldiers, on Tuesday (12/5).

However, the visit was rejected because Andrie could not yet be disturbed.

“From a humanitarian perspective, as ordinary people, we wanted to express our empathy and sympathy to brother Andrie Yunus regarding the actions of the defendants,” said Military Prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel Chk Muhammad Iswandi at RSCM Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/5).

“However, fellow media colleagues know that brother Andrie Yunus has just finished surgery, and today, post-surgery, he is still in the healing process, so indeed he cannot be visited,” he added.

Based on information from RSCM, Iswandi said that Andrie’s right shoulder still cannot move freely.

“Earlier, information from the hospital management stated that he must remain in a static position. If he moves even a little, the surgery will fail. So, we understand brother Andrie Yunus’s situation,” he added.

Due to this condition, Iswandi will report the developments to his superiors for consideration in the trial of the acid dousing case at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta.

Meanwhile, RSCM stated that Andrie’s activities are still limited. He is currently under monitoring and treatment by a multidisciplinary medical team consisting of specialists in reconstructive plastic surgery, ophthalmology, psychiatry, and other related healthcare personnel to ensure the recovery process runs optimally and continuously.

RSCM conveyed that based on professional medical considerations both physically and psychologically, the patient is currently in the post-follow-up surgery recovery phase and still requires periodic evaluations of the wound healing process as well as eye condition.

In general, Andrie’s condition is stable and shows good progress. Andrie has a history of burns on his face, neck, chest, back, and both arms due to acid chemical trauma that occurred on 12 March 2026.

During the treatment period, Andrie has undergone a series of medical procedures and surgeries gradually according to clinical needs.

The latest follow-up surgery was performed on 7 May 2026, involving tissue debridement and advanced wound closure with skin grafting procedures.

Post-procedure, Andrie is undergoing care and observation in the RSCM ward for monitoring of clinical condition and evaluation of wound healing.

Regarding the right eye condition, it is currently in the advanced treatment stage with temporary eyelid closure procedures to support the healing process and maintain the eyeball structure.

From a psychological aspect, based on evaluations by the psychiatry and psychology team, the patient’s current condition is within normal limits, and no significant psychological disorders were found.

Andrie is assessed to be quite capable of adapting to his physical condition and surroundings and is cooperative during the treatment process. Psychological support continues to be provided routinely to support the patient’s overall recovery.

Andrie Yunus was doused with acid by TNI soldiers on the night of 12 March 2026 after giving a podcast at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office titled “Remilitarisation & Judicial Review of the TNI Law”.

The four TNI soldiers involved in the acid dousing are currently being tried at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta.

They are Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko, First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetyo, and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka.

Regarding the motive for the acid dousing, the prosecutor said the defendants harboured a grudge against Andrie for successfully interrupting a parliamentary meeting discussing revisions to the TNI Law held by the DPR at the Fairmont Hotel, South Jakarta, in March 2025.

“With that incident, the defendants considered brother Andrie Yunus to have insulted the TNI institution, even trampling on the TNI institution,” said the prosecutor when reading the indictment in the previous trial.

The defendants are charged with violating Article 469 paragraph 1 subsidiary Article 468 paragraph 1 further subsidiary Article 467 paragraph 1 in conjunction with paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
