Military Prosecutor: Andrie Yunus Attackers Suspected After Personnel Skip Morning Roll Call
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Military prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel TNI Corps Hukum (Chk) Muhammad Iswadi stated that the four defendants in the suspected acid attack case against KontraS Vice Coordinator Andrie Yunus began to arouse suspicion after the personnel failed to attend the morning roll call.
The four defendants in the case are Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko (defendant I), First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi (defendant II), Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetya (defendant III), and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka (defendant IV).
“On 13 March 2026, defendants III and IV attended the morning roll call at the Denma BAIS TNI. At that time, defendants I and II did not join the morning roll call on the grounds of illness,” said the prosecutor during the indictment reading session at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday.
Then, on 17 March 2026 after the flag-raising ceremony, former Deputy Head of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) Major General TNI Bosco Haryo Yunanto ordered the Commander of the Denma BAIS TNI, Colonel TNI Infantry Heri Heryadi, to check on the personnel.
After Colonel Inf. Heri learned that Edi and Budhi had been ill for several days, he ordered Provost Denma BAIS TNI Sergeant One Arif to check on the two at the Denma BAIS TNI barracks.
Upon arriving on the fourth floor of the barracks building, the prosecutor said Sertu Arif observed the condition of Edi and Budhi, then reported to Heri.
Heri then ordered Arif to bring the two defendants to the BAIS TNI Detachment, where they were received by TNI Navy Captain Health (K) Suyanto.
After finishing cleaning their wounds, Suyanto asked Edi and Budhi when they had sustained the injuries, and based on their admission, the wounds had been there for 3 days.
Therefore, Suyanto reported to Heri that the two defendants appeared to have been exposed to a chemical liquid. Heri felt something was off and questioned Edi and Budhi, but their answers were suspicious.
After that, an in-depth interrogation or elicitation was conducted on Edi and Budhi, resulting in the two defendants admitting to having committed violence against Andrie, as had gone viral in the media.
During the violence, the prosecutor continued, it was revealed that Nandala and Sami were also involved. Thus, the four defendants were secured in the detention cell of Denma BAIS TNI.
“Then on 18 March 2026, on the oral order of the TNI Kabais, Heri handed over the case of the defendants to Puspom TNI for processing under applicable law,” said the prosecutor.
The attitude of Andrie, which the defendants viewed as insulting the TNI institution, occurred on 16 March 2025 when Andrie forced his way in and interrupted the UU TNI revision meeting in Jakarta.
Other actions that angered the defendants included Andrie suing the UU TNI to the Constitutional Court (MK), accusing the TNI of intimidating or terrorising the KontraS office, being the mastermind or actor in the late August 2025 riot tragedy, and vigorously promoting an anti-militarism narrative.
Thus, the actions of the defendants, who had planned to carry out the acid splashing against Andrie, knowing that the chemical liquid could cause severe burns, were deemed inappropriate conduct for TNI members.
For their actions, the four defendants face punishment as stipulated in Article 469 paragraph (1) or Article 468 paragraph (1) or Article 467 paragraph (1) in conjunction with paragraph (2) jo. Article 20 letter C of the National Criminal Code (KUHP).
