The family of the deceased TNI member, who was allegedly shot by a fellow active TNI member at the Panhead Cafe in Palembang, South Sumatra, has requested that the perpetrator be dismissed from the institution.

The victim was Private First Class F (23), who served at the Denkesyah Palembang.

The victim’s younger sister, Faraditha (19), said she was very upset by her brother’s death. She said she first received news of the incident while attending a lecture on Saturday morning (May 16).

“I went to Permata Hospital, but when I got there, it turned out that he had been taken to Bhayangkara Hospital,” Ditha said, as quoted by detikcom.

The family has asked that the perpetrator who allegedly shot and killed the victim be dealt with firmly.

“We ask that the perpetrator be punished severely and dismissed from the TNI,” she said.

The victim’s body is planned to be buried at the Sematang Borang Public Cemetery in Palembang. Meanwhile, Kodam II/Sriwijaya has ensured that the incident will be handled seriously, professionally, and transparently.

Kapendam II/Sriwijaya, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Yordania, said that the Pangdam II/Sriwijaya is paying full attention to the incident and has ordered related units to immediately take steps to conduct a thorough investigation in the field.

“The Pangdam has ordered the Asintel Kasdam II/Swj and Danpomdam II/Swj to immediately handle the matter in the field through an in-depth investigation, so that there is no misinformation or the development of false opinions in society,” said Yordania.

He explained that Denpom 2/IV Palembang is still carrying out a series of investigative processes, starting from examining witnesses at the scene, investigating CCTV footage, conducting autopsies, and collecting evidence.

The TNI is also coordinating with the South Sumatra Police to support the objective and comprehensive disclosure of facts.

Yordania said that the investigation process requires time so that the entire sequence of events can be revealed accurately based on the facts in the field.

“Kodam II/Sriwijaya also expresses its condolences for the incident and appeals to all parties to wait for the official results of the investigation and not spread unverified information so that the situation remains conducive,” he said.
