A military personnel from Koramil Pakel, Tulungagung, with the initials AM, has been identified as the perpetrator of a series of minimarket and shop burglaries spanning Tulungagung and Trenggalek. The suspect was recently apprehended, having only been released from prison in 2025 after serving a sentence for a similar offence.

According to Deputy Commander V/Brawijaya Lieutenant Colonel Yudo Aji Susanto, military records from Kodam V/Brawijaya indicate that AM was previously involved in theft cases in the Trenggalek area in 2024. During that incident, AM targeted five locations, ranging from small provisions shops to building supply stores.

“It is indeed true that the individual was previously convicted in a similar case in Trenggalek in 2024 and received an eight-month sentence, being released from prison in 2025,” Lieutenant Colonel Yudo stated.

The suspect was apprehended whilst carrying out a burglary at a minimarket in Kutoanyar District, Tulungagung, in the early hours of Saturday, 7 March 2026.

“It is confirmed that there is a member of the TNI AD [Indonesian Army] who committed theft at several minimarkets in Tulungagung and Trenggalek. The suspect, with initials AM, is a member of Koramil Pakel, Tulungagung,” said Lieutenant Colonel Yudo.

Currently, the suspect is receiving treatment at Bhayangkara Hospital in Tulungagung under strict supervision by Subdenpom V/1-6 Tulungagung. Upon recovery, the suspect will proceed through further legal proceedings before Denpom V/1 Madiun.
