Military officer and wife shot by robbers

TANGERANG: An Army officer from the military command in Pondok
Aren district and his wife were shot by four unidentified men,
suspected to be motorcycle thieves, in Perigi village, Pondok
Aren, Tangerang regency, on Tuesday night.

The officer, Brig. Ngadiono, 46, and his wife Nurhayati, 37,
were riding their motorcycle when suddenly four unidentified men
on two Yamaha RX King motorcycles shot them.

Ngadino, who was carrying a gun in his jacket, shot back at
the would-be thieves causing them to flee the scene after they
realized that he too was armed.

Ngadiono and his wife were rushed to Bintaro International
Hospital and their injuries were not believed to be life-
threatening.

Pondok Aren subprecinct police chief Insp. Tanti Septiani said
on Wednesday that police found four bullet casings at the scene.
Police are still investigating the case but they suspect the four
men to be members of a motorcycle robbery gang. -- JP
