Military Leaders, Pramono and Tanjung Pay Respects at Try Sutrisno's Wake
Numerous state officials and former military personnel gathered at the residence of former Vice President Try Sutrisno in the Menteng area of Central Jakarta on Monday (2 March 2026) to pay their condolences to the man who served as the 6th Vice President of Indonesia during the 1993–1998 term alongside President Suharto.

Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir was among the first government officials to arrive at the residence, which was decorated with numerous floral arrangements. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung also attended, wearing a black peci and white shirt.
“Indeed, we belong to God and to Him we shall return. As someone who knew Try Sutrisno well personally, I certainly feel this loss,” Pramono said at the location.
CT Corp founder and chairman Chairul Tanjung was observed in conversation with former Transport Minister Agum Gumelar at the wake.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto noted that Try Sutrisno paid considerable attention to national concerns during his tenure as Vice President, particularly regarding development and the dual function doctrine of the Armed Forces (ABRI) at that time.
Wiranto, serving as Special Adviser to the President, remarked: “He was a true soldier, from second lieutenant to four-star general, never ceasing his struggle to defend the nation and its people.”
Try Sutrisno passed away at the age of 90 at Gatot Soebroto Military Hospital in Jakarta. His funeral prayer was held at Sunda Kelapa Mosque, with burial to follow at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery.
