The Military Court II-08 Jakarta will soon prepare the trial schedule for the acid attack case against activist Andrie Yunus. Jakarta Military Court spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Arin Fauzan, stated that the case involving four members of the National Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais) of the TNI will be tried approximately one week after the case file is handed over from the Military Prosecutor.

The case file for Andrie Yunus has been declared complete by the Military Prosecutor 07-II Jakarta and will be transferred to the Jakarta Military Court tomorrow or Thursday, 16 April 2026. According to Arin, the court will then examine the file. “If it is declared complete, we will proceed to trial, approximately one week after the handover on working days,” he said when contacted on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.

Previously, the Head of the Military Prosecutor 07-II Jakarta, Colonel Corps of Law (Chk) Andri Wijaya, stated that he had received the decision letter for the handover of the case or Skeppera as the basis for preparing the Indictment in the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus as of Wednesday, 15 April.

Thus, the handover will be carried out soon. “The case file will be transferred to the Military Court 08-II Jakarta tomorrow morning,” Andri told Tempo on Wednesday.

The acid attack on Andrie Yunus occurred on 12 March when he was passing through Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Central Jakarta. Medical records indicate that the Deputy Coordinator of Kontras suffered burns over 20 percent due to the attack carried out by TNI BAIS personnel.

There are four suspects whose case files will be transferred to the Jakarta Military Court. They are NDP, SL, BHW, and ES, from the air and sea branches. NDP holds the rank of captain, SL and BHW are first lieutenants, while ES is a second sergeant.

In this case, the Military Prosecutor 07-II Jakarta will charge the perpetrators with layered articles. The layered articles referred to are Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code (KUHP) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of the KUHP. Then, Article 468 paragraph (1) KUHP in conjunction with Article 20 letter c KUHP, and Article 467 paragraph (1) in conjunction with paragraph (2) KUHP in conjunction with Article 20 letter c KUHP.

Article 468 paragraph (1) KUHP regulates acts of assault causing serious injuries with a maximum penalty of eight years imprisonment.

Meanwhile, Article 467 paragraphs (1) and (2) regulate premeditated assault. The penalty for this article is a maximum of four years imprisonment in paragraph (1), and a maximum of seven years imprisonment in paragraph (2) if the assault causes serious injuries.

On the other hand, the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), the legal representatives of Andrie Yunus, rejects the perpetrators of the acid attack on their client being charged only with articles on serious assault.

TAUD member Gema Gita Persada said that the application of these articles does not yet reflect the overall incident. Because, based on a legal study conducted with several experts, there is strong suspicion of premeditated attempted murder in Andrie’s case.

Moreover, in the type B report to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, TAUD also included the article on terrorism offences in Andrie’s case. The inclusion of this article is in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s statement assessing Andrie’s case as a terrorism offence.
