Military Court Explains Delay in Trial of Zaskia's Staff Assault Case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Spokesperson for the Military Court II-08 Jakarta, Endah Wulandari, has responded to the widespread public attention on social media regarding Zaskia Adya Mecca’s post about the postponement of the trial in the alleged assault on her staff.
“So, I would like to clarify that the scheduling of the trial is under the authority of the military prosecutor. We are merely the facilitators of the trial today; the Military Court indeed had no session,” Endah said when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The postponement was not without reason, but rather related to the authority and internal conditions at the level of the Military Prosecutor’s Office.
Endah explained that the Military Court only acts as the organiser of the trial.
According to her, the trial in the case involving Zaskia’s driver was actually rescheduled to be held today after it was previously opened on 31 March.
However, on the same day, the military prosecutor’s office was receiving the transfer of another significant case file, namely the acid splashing incident against the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus.
This situation led the prosecutor to prioritise handling that file.
“Because there was a transfer of an important case file, the prosecutor requested that the trial be postponed. So indeed, there was no trial at all today,” Endah explained.
Additionally, the absence of witnesses was a key factor. Endah emphasised that no victim witnesses were present on that day, including the reporting party.
Even the prosecutor who should have been present at the trial was not there, as they were focused on the administration process of the case transfer.
In response to Zaskia Adya Mecca’s statement that she arrived with two witnesses, Endah provided clarification that those two individuals were likely not the main victim witnesses, but rather other parties not directly related as reporters.
Regarding the condition of the Military Court described as empty in Zaskia’s post, Endah affirmed that it was because no trials were taking place.
The Military Court personnel utilised the time for other activities outside the office. These activities were part of efforts to build an integrity zone through joint sports events.
“The sports activities outside were to enhance our integrity zone. But this was done after the prosecutor’s request to postpone the trial. So all trials today indeed did not take place,” Endah said.
For the continuation of the legal process, Endah assured that the trial would be rescheduled for Wednesday (8/4) tomorrow. However, the summoning of witnesses remains under the authority of the military prosecutor.
She also conveyed that the prosecutor’s side has expressed apologies and is preparing an official clarification to avoid public misunderstandings, especially since this issue has attracted wide attention and concerns the Military Court institution.
The issue went viral on social media with expressions of disappointment from the celebrity couple Zaskia Adya Mecca and director Hanung Bramantyo on the Instagram account @zaskiadyamecca.
Zaskia recounted the chronology of the event, which she found very confusing.
In her post, Zaskia mentioned that she and Hanung Bramantyo, along with two witnesses, arrived at the Military Court in Jakarta at 09:50 a.m.
Their presence was based on a summons letter received earlier in the week for the continuation of the trial in the ‘Faisal and Kala’ case.
“Honestly surprised that this case is still ongoing, because we lost updates on the case since October,” Zaskia wrote.
However, Zaskia and her team were shocked upon arriving at the Military Court to find it empty.
“Shocked when we arrived at @pengadilanmiliterjakarta, no one was there. Only cleaners. The room lights were dark,” she revealed.
Zaskia and her team tried to seek information, but the staff on site were also confused and could only respond minimally that there was no trial that day and it might be postponed to the next day.
Zaskia attempted to confirm directly with the party who sent the trial summons message via WhatsApp.
“In WhatsApp to the sender of the trial summons, the response was, ‘oh? Was the trial cancelled?’,” Zaskia wrote.
Due to this incident, Zaskia questioned the professionalism of the trial proceedings.
“Who should have informed us if the trial was cancelled? Then when will it be rescheduled?… Isn’t this trial involving many people? Why, if cancelled, are the related and summoned people just forgotten like that? Is this a common occurrence in military trials?” she said.
The alleged assault case experienced by one of the employees, Faisal, occurred while delivering Zaskia’s child to school on Monday, 22 September 2025, in the morning.
In her Instagram post, Zaskia Adya Mecca described the incident happening on Ampera Raya Street, specifically in front of the Shabu Hachi restaurant on Monday around 07:15 WIB.
The perpetrator who assaulted Zaskia’s employee was briefly detained by residents but claimed to be a ‘member 30’ without further explanation.
The man wearing batik then fled. The perpetrator’s characteristics include riding a pink Vespa motorbike with licence plate B 3701 FRM.
