Military Commander leads handover of Vice President Try Sutrisno's remains to the state

The Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), General Agus Subiyanto, presided over the ceremonial handover of the remains of sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno to the state on Monday, 2 March 2026, at the Sunda Kelapa Grand Mosque in Jakarta.

The state funeral ceremony marked a formal transfer of Try Sutrisno’s remains from his family to the Indonesian government. Personnel from the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) carried the former Vice President’s body following the official handover ceremony.

Try Sutrisno passed away at the Armed Forces Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto in Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026, at the age of 90 years. His remains were subsequently transported to Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (Taman Makam Pahlawan Kalibata) for interment, a burial ground traditionally reserved for prominent state figures and national heroes.

The ceremonial handover underscored Try Sutrisno’s significant contributions to the Indonesian state and military during his tenure as Vice President and his distinguished career in military service.
