Military Command Constructs Bridge to Strengthen Educational Access
Palu — The Indonesian Army’s Kodam XXIII/Palaka Wira has constructed the Garuda Bridge in Bonda Village, Papalang District, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi, to strengthen public transportation access whilst supporting economic and educational activities in the region.
Major General J. Binsar Parluhutan Sianipar, commander of Kodam XXIII/Palaka Wira, stated in Palu on Tuesday that the bridge construction represents the Army’s commitment to addressing community difficulties, particularly in areas with limited infrastructure.
He explained that personnel from Kodim 1418/Mamuju had constructed the bridge across the Paniki River, which had previously deteriorated and remained unusable for approximately ten years, obstructing community activities and children’s access to schools.
According to the commander, the construction of the Garuda Bridge in Bonda Village demonstrates the Army’s responsiveness to community needs within the Kodam XXIII/Palaka Wira territorial jurisdiction.
Through this suspension bridge construction programme, he stated, the Indonesian Army is committed to maintaining its presence within communities. “Not only in safeguarding national sovereignty, but also actively assisting the government in accelerating development and improving public welfare in the region,” he stated.
