Military chief warns of possible conflict
KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: Religion-related matters,
ethnicity and refugees are three factors that potentially trigger
conflict in the province of East Nusa Tenggara, according to
Udayana Military Command chief Maj. Gen. Wellem T. da Costa.
In his written address read by Kupang Military District chief
Col. Muswarno, da Costa called on all layers of society to be
more alert to anything that could trigger unrest.
The written address was made by da Costa in connection with
the provincial military roll call on Wednesday.
Udayana Military Command oversees Bali, West and East Nusa
Tenggara provinces.
Da Costa also asked military chiefs at all levels in the three
provinces to be more informative and open.
"Don't cover up anything that has the potential to provoke
unrest or riots," he said. --Antara
