Military builds 12 houses for poor
FAKFAK, Papua: The local military in Fakfak, through its civic work program (TMD), has built 12 houses and a church for poor families in the regency.
Fakfak Military District chief Lt. Col. Nyoto Suparjo said here on Saturday that the houses were built to mark the 70th anniversary of the civic work program in the regency, which focused on Coa village this year.
"The program will continue to improve the local military's relations with the locals in improving their social welfare and maintaining security in the province," he said.
Nyoko said that aside from construction work, the local military also planted acacia and mango trees in cooperation with locals in a 200-hectare barren area in support of the regency's reforestation program. --Antara
