MILF deny link to deadly blast in RP

PHILIPPINES: The largest Muslim separatist group in the country on Friday denied military allegations it was behind a deadly bombing in the troubled south which killed at least eight people.

The military has accused the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) of being responsible for Thursday's blast in a bus terminal in the city of Kidapawan, some 940 kilometers south of Manila.

Some 25 people were also wounded in the blast, the second in the troubled south in about a week.

But MILF spokesman Eid Kabalu condemned the attack, saying that it was "unIslamic and those responsible should be punished."

"If the MILF has its way, the suspects should be executed publicly," he said. --AFP
