Milangkala Tatar Sunda Cultural Procession Showcases the Binokasih Crown

The Milangkala Tatar Sunda cultural procession, which ran from Kiara Artha Park along Jalan Jakarta, Jalan Supratman and ended at Jalan Diponegoro (Gedung Sate) on Saturday, 16 May 2026, featured artists from 27 regencies and municipalities across West Java. The Head of the West Java Regional Civil Servants Agency (BKD) and also Chair of the Milangkala Tatar Sunda Committee, Dedi Supandi, said artists from 27 regencies and municipalities performed a range of engaging performances. ‘Not only that, some representatives from outside West Java also attended, such as from Aceh, DKI Jakarta, Surakarta, Yogyakarta, Ponorogo, and even Tegal and Brebes,’ he said in a written statement on Wednesday (20 May 2026).

Additionally, the Binokasih Sanghyang Pake Crown was paraded in the procession. Dedi confirmed the crown paraded is authentic, not a replica. ‘It is genuine, not a replica. Although there is a replica in Sumedang, this one is 100 percent authentic. And this is really what we want to convey—that Sunda or West Java has had a rich culture since ancient times,’ he said.

To support the smooth running of the event, the organisers prepared medical services at every point along the parade route. However, the public should also ensure they are in good health when watching the procession.

The Milangkala Tatar Sunda climax continued on Sunday evening, 17 May 2026, with a Peuting Munggaran Milangkala Tatar Sunda stage show in the West Parking Lot of Gedung Sate.

Dedi said that in the next Milangkala Tatar Sunda, the event will be held in areas not yet visited this year. ‘Art performances during the parade and on stage can be watched by the public free of charge,’ he concluded.
