Mikrotrans Driver Sacked After Speeding and Hitting Elderly Man in Tomang

A Mikrotrans driver on route JAK 54 (Grogol-Bendungan Hilir) has been dishonourably dismissed after allegedly hitting an elderly motorcyclist on Jalan Tomang Utara, West Jakarta. PT Transjakarta (TransJ) confirmed the sacking. “Transjakarta offers its sincerest apologies for the incident involving our operator. The driver in question has undergone an investigation and has been given a strict sanction in the form of dishonourable discharge (PTDH) by the operator,” said Ayu Wardhani, Head of Public Relations and CSR at Transjakarta, as reported by Antara on Wednesday (5/8/2026). The accident occurred on Saturday (25/7) at around 7.55 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. She stated that the driver of the Mikrotrans fleet operated by Koperasi Komilet Jaya (KMJ 2104) had attempted to conceal the actual events from both the operator and Transjakarta before a further investigation was conducted. She added that efforts to resolve the matter and take responsibility towards the elderly motorcyclist who was hit are currently underway. “Transjakarta continues to oversee and ensure that the settlement process between the operator and the victim proceeds properly and thoroughly,” Ayu said. TransJ urged all passengers and members of the public to immediately report any incidents or issues in the field via the call centre at 1500-102 or Transjakarta’s official social media accounts. “We are committed to responding to and following up on every report received immediately. We express our gratitude for the public’s report and the attention from various parties regarding this incident,” Ayu stated. Meanwhile, the child of Akiam (81), the elderly man who was the victim of the accident, said the incident occurred while his father was riding his motorcycle to the market. According to eyewitness accounts at the scene, the Mikrotrans Route 54 unit was travelling at high speed and suddenly changed lanes. As a result of the incident, the victim suffered serious injuries including fractures to his arm and nose, as well as chest pain. The victim was assisted by local residents before being rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
