Mikhael Sinaga Claims to Find Discrepancies in Jokowi's Diploma Versions from PDIP and KPU

YouTuber Mikhael Sinaga claims to have conducted a comparison of the diploma of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo, using two different sources: the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) party and the General Elections Commission (KPU), via public policy expert Bonatua Silalahi.

Sinaga claims to have discovered discrepancies in the placement of the diploma’s legalisation stamps. “The placement of the legalisation is different; the legalisation stamps differ. They are all in the top right, but if we place them side-by-side or overlay them, it becomes evident that there is a slight difference,” Sinaga stated, as reported on Monday (8/6).

Last week, Sinaga submitted a request for information to PDIP regarding Jokowi’s diploma. He noted that the diploma documents were required for investigative news purposes. As a former legislative candidate, Sinaga remarked that during the nomination process, all candidate documents are generally submitted to political parties before being forwarded to the KPU.

“Based on my personal experience, any candidate—whether for the House of Representatives, Mayor, Governor, or President—should provide one set of files to the party. The party then submits these to the KPU,” he said.

In a separate confirmation, PDIP politician Guntur Romli explained that the party provides various documents, including copies of high school diplomas, undergraduate (S1) diplomas, and other files. “We open all files, including high school diplomas, undergraduate diplomas, and other documents that can be disclosed based on the mandate of the Public Information Disclosure Act,” Guntur said when contacted on Monday (8/6).
