Migration Season Begins, Transport Minister Affirms Readiness to Sanction Transport Discount Violations
Jakarta — Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has pledged to follow through on President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions regarding a transport discount programme for the 2026 Lebaran migration season. The President has requested the Transport Ministry ensure the discount scheme operates optimally.
“We will continue to monitor the discount programme. We will request and monitor airlines and all transport modes offering this programme,” stated Dudy during the opening of the Central Integrated Lebaran Transport Post 2026 (1447 H) at the Transport Ministry’s office in Jakarta on Friday 13 March 2026.
Dudy stressed that the programme must be implemented by airlines and all transport operators in accordance with established regulations. He indicated the ministry would not hesitate to take action against transport operators failing to comply with these provisions.
“If violations are found, we will issue warnings and impose sanctions if the discount programme is not operating as expected or as we have conveyed to the public,” Dudy stated.
Dudy said the transport discount programme aims to ensure the public genuinely benefits from reduced transport costs during the Lebaran migration period. Accordingly, the Transport Ministry has prepared several schemes to sanction transport operators not implementing the programme properly.
“So there will be warnings and also sanctions for those who do not properly implement the discount programme,” Dudy said.
