Migrant workers send less money home
SEMARANG: The amount of money sent home by Central Java migrant workers last year increased to Rp 1.497 trillion (US$ 187.1 billion), slightly higher than the year 2002, when they sent home Rp 1.409 trillion.
Last year, the money was sent by 244,584 migrant workers, while in 2002, the money was sent by 138,205 migrant workers, according to data provided by the Central Java manpower office.
Indonesian migrant workers mostly work in the Middle East, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. -- Antara
