A midwife identified by the initial E in Kubu District, Rokan Hilir Regency (Rohil), was slashed by a robber until she was covered in blood. The suspect was arrested in West Pasaman, West Sumatra, after three days on the run.

The incident took place at the victim’s residence in Teluk Piyai, Kubu District, Rohil, on Friday (14/8) at 11.00 pm local time. The suspect, identified by the initials AP (16), broke into the victim’s house and attempted to commit robbery.

However, his actions were discovered by the victim. The panicked suspect then slashed the victim indiscriminately, causing cuts to her head, ear and fingers.

The victim then screamed for help. Hearing the screams, residents rushed to the scene and the suspect fled towards the back of the victim’s house.

The victim was then taken by residents to Teluk Merbabu Community Health Centre. The case was subsequently reported to Kubu Police.

Rohil Police Chief AKBP Aldi Alfa Faroqi ordered Criminal Investigation Unit head AKP Kris Tofel to pursue the suspect. The pursuit paid off after the suspect was detected in West Pasaman, West Sumatra.

“On Monday (17/8), a joint team moved towards West Pasaman. With the assistance of personnel from Lembah Melintang Police, the suspect was finally arrested at his biological parents’ house on Jalan Bagka Hutan Godang, Kampus Damai Village, Lembah Melintang District, West Pasaman Regency,” explained AKBP Adli.

During police questioning, the suspect admitted to carrying out the act alone. In the case, police seized a number of items of evidence, including two machetes, one torch, a pair of sandals, two pieces of iron, a red T-shirt, a pair of blue jeans, a brown belt, and a wooden beam.

The suspect was then taken to Kubu Police headquarters to undergo further legal proceedings. AP is charged under Article 479 in conjunction with Article 17 and/or Article 468 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

“This case was successfully uncovered thanks to excellent cooperation and synergy between the public, the Kubu Police Criminal Investigation Unit team and the Rohil Police Criminal Investigation team, so that the suspect could be quickly traced and detained even though he had fled to another region,” he concluded.
