Midwife in Situbondo Found Dead in Drainage Ditch; Husband Allegedly Responsible

A midwife from Besuki Regional Hospital, identified by the initials MRD (34), was found dead in a drainage ditch in Kalianget Village, Banyuglugur, Situbondo. Police have revealed that the victim is suspected to have been murdered.

“It is true. She was found last night in a drainage ditch,” stated the Chief of Banyuglugur Police, AKP Teguh Santoso, on Sunday (7/6/2026).

The victim was allegedly killed by her husband, who has already surrendered to the police.

“Her husband immediately turned himself in at the East Java Regional Police Headquarters,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Director of Besuki Regional Hospital, Imam Haryono, confirmed that the victim was a staff member serving as a midwife at the hospital. He added that the victim had been working normally and there appeared to be no known issues within her family.

“Before being found dead in the drainage ditch, information from her colleagues indicated that she was still at work on Friday night,” he explained.
