Middle School Student in Pemalang Dies, Alleged Victim of Bullying; Police Question Classmates
Police are investigating a suspected case of bullying that reportedly led to the death of a state middle school student in Randudongkal District, Pemalang Regency. During the investigation, officers have questioned several witnesses and performed an autopsy on the body of the victim, identified by the initials AAF (13), a resident of Semingkir Village, Randudongkal District.
Head of Criminal Investigation at the Pemalang Police, AKP M Faizal Wildan Umar, stated that the autopsy was conducted jointly with the Central Java Police’s medical and health team to ascertain the cause of the victim’s death. ‘Today we carried out an autopsy with the Central Java Police medical team. The results of the autopsy will be released later. We are currently still investigating and gathering information from the witnesses,’ Wildan said when met by reporters at Mardhatillah Hospital in Randudongkal on Monday.
According to Wildan, the preliminary investigation is targeting several parties believed to have knowledge of the incident. These include the victim’s friends, the doctor who treated the victim during hospitalisation, and the victim’s parents. ‘We are still investigating and gathering information from the witnesses, and we are currently examining several witnesses, including the victim’s friends, the treating doctor, and the victim’s parents,’ he explained.
The investigation began after the Randudongkal Police received a report regarding the victim’s death on Sunday at around 10 p.m. local time. Following the report, personnel from the Pemalang Police Criminal Investigation Unit and Randudongkal Police immediately visited the funeral home in Semingkir Village to conduct an initial examination. ‘Upon receiving the report, members of the Pemalang Police Criminal Investigation Unit and Randudongkal Police immediately went to the funeral home in Semingkir Village to check and obtain initial statements from the victim’s parents,’ he said.
Based on initial information gathered by investigators, the victim had undergone one day of treatment at Mardhatillah Hospital in Randudongkal before passing away. Police stated that the investigation process is ongoing while they await the autopsy results to reveal the exact cause of the victim’s death.
