Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto has cautioned that the current global situation is haunted by various conflicts occurring in the region. He therefore believes it is important for government officials not only to communicate matters that sound good, but also to be honest about the dangers that are taking place.

This is because wars have erupted in many areas ranging from Europe to the Middle East. Prabowo made these remarks during the inauguration of 218 bailey bridges, armco bridges, and pioneer bridges across Indonesia, conducted virtually on Monday, 9 February 2026.

“We must acknowledge this. We should not always speak of good things, of sweet things. I want to convey this because we are aware and understand that our world is now full of dangerous dynamics,” Prabowo said in his remarks.

“Wars are breaking out everywhere, in almost every region of the world, particularly in the Middle East region. Some time ago we realised there was a major war in Europe, in Ukraine. Now almost the entire Middle East is affected,” he added.

According to him, Indonesia has a geographical location far from that region. However, he noted that this could have an impact on conditions within the country.

“Although we are geographically distant from that place, our world has indeed become very small. What happens in one region will affect other regions,” he further stated.

Furthermore, Prabowo said that Indonesia is currently on the right path because it does not side with any faction. The nation’s diplomatic perspective will continue to respect all powers and all countries, which is why Indonesia currently enjoys peaceful conditions.

On this occasion, Prabowo also revealed that the nation currently faces many obstacles and shortcomings. However, he believed that some of these shortcomings stem from officials, bureaucrats, and staff members.

“My friends, we are aware that this nation still faces many obstacles, many difficulties, many shortcomings. These shortcomings are essentially shortcomings of officials, bureaucrats, and staff members. On the one hand, many staff members work extraordinarily well, on the other hand there are still certain leadership elements that are disappointing in terms of responsibility to the nation and state,” said Prabowo.
