Middle East Tensions Rise: Prabowo to Brief Nation Shortly

JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto has announced his intention to deliver a briefing to the nation regarding the intensifying conflict in the Middle East following attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran.

This announcement was made during a virtual ceremony inaugurating 218 bridges across Indonesia on Monday, 9 March 2026.

“We possess great strength, but I must also be honest with the entire Indonesian people, and I will deliver a briefing to the entire nation within the near future,” Prabowo stated on Monday, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube broadcast.

In light of these developments, Indonesia must strengthen national self-reliance and remain vigilant regarding the current geopolitical situation.

“We find ourselves in a world full of danger. Powerful nations are in conflict and could drag other nations into difficult circumstances,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo stated that the Indonesian people must prepare to face difficulties arising from the Middle East conflict.

“We do not hide behind existing systems. We confront difficulties with the determination to overcome them. We must dare to overcome difficulties. We do not conceal difficulties; we do not pretend difficulties do not exist,” Prabowo declared.

“We possess great strength. But I must also be honest with the entire Indonesian people, and I will deliver a briefing to the entire nation within the near future,” he reiterated.

During the occasion, Prabowo expressed the hope that Indonesia will become a nation no longer dependent on petroleum fuel in the future.

Prabowo also emphasised the importance of national food security as the foundation for addressing global uncertainty.

“I simply wish to convey that our strength and our extraordinary wealth should be managed and controlled even better,” Prabowo stated.
