Middle East Tensions Escalate as UAE Intercepts 190 Iranian Missiles and 109 Drones
The United Arab Emirates’ air defence system said it intercepted nine ballistic missiles and 109 drones today, with a further three drones reported to have fallen inside the Emirates. Citing BBC and Al Jazeera, on Friday, 6 March 2026, the UAE Ministry of Defence said the nine missiles detected today had been destroyed. This raises the total number of Iranian ballistic missiles intercepted in the UAE during the conflict to 190. The ministry added that eight Iranian cruise missiles had also been destroyed. In addition, the UAE detected 112 drones, of which 109 were intercepted and three fell inside the country. Since the start of the US-Israel war with Iran, three people have been killed and 112 injured in attacks on the UAE. The UAE Ministry of Defence stated that the armed forces are ready to face any threat, emphasising readiness to counter any attempt to damage national security and to safeguard its sovereignty, stability and national interests.
