Middle East Tensions Escalate as Dubai Airport Suspends All Flight Operations

Flight operations in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, have been affected by escalating tensions in the Middle East following combined attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. All flights in Dubai have now been suspended.

“Dubai Airports confirms that all flight operations at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International (DWC) are suspended until further notice,” Dubai’s government news office stated on its official X account.

All passengers are advised not to travel to the airport given the current tense situation.

“Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport at this time and should contact their respective airlines directly for updated information regarding their flights,” the statement added.

The United States and Israel launched a combined strike on Iranian territory on Saturday morning, Iran time. The attack was justified as eliminating threats posed by the Iranian regime.

Iran condemned the strikes as a breach of sovereignty. Military officials pledged to retaliate and launch counter-strikes. Iran subsequently carried out retaliatory attacks targeting several American military bases across the Middle East.

A series of explosions rocked several Gulf Arab nations hosting American military bases on Saturday, local time. Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait all reported successive explosions following the US and Israeli strike on Iran.

Latest reports suggest that Iran’s Defence Minister Amir Nasirzadeh has been killed and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Commander Mohammed Pakpour has also reportedly been killed. No official confirmation has been issued from Iran regarding the deaths of the Defence Minister and Revolutionary Guard Commander. Neither Iran nor Israel has issued statements.
