Amid evolving geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East, PT Pertamina (Persero) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining national energy supply stability, with worker safety and operational continuity as primary focuses through strengthened risk mitigation and intensive monitoring.

In coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesian embassies and consulates, and local authorities, Pertamina, Indonesia’s backbone energy provider, is ensuring all business lines—from crude oil supply to domestic fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) distribution—continue operating optimally and under controlled conditions.

Pertamina has identified three strategic business units directly exposed to regional dynamics: PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) Non Captive, which handles global energy transport operations; Pertamina Internasional EP (PIEP), conducting upstream operations in Basra, Iraq; and Pertamina Patra Niaga, which procures crude oil and products from Middle Eastern sources.

Vice President for Corporate Communication Muhammad Baron stated that all personnel, operations, and fleets in the Middle East are being monitored intensively. “Pertamina has prepared risk mitigation measures and strengthened communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, embassies, consulates, and local authorities to ensure operational continuity and crew safety,” Baron said in a written statement on Monday, 2 March 2026.

Pertamina continues to monitor global energy dynamics developments and has implemented mitigation strategies to ensure global supply chain continuity and national energy resilience remain intact, Baron added. As an integrated energy company, Pertamina maintains a diversified crude oil, fuel, and LPG supply portfolio from both domestic production and multiple partner nations.

Additionally, Pertamina is optimising domestic refinery operations to maintain production and distribution balance. Through integrated supply management from upstream to downstream, the company ensures safe, adequate, and controlled fuel and LPG availability for all Indonesian citizens.

“As the frontline guardian of national energy security, Pertamina is strengthening oversight and working to maintain the safety of crude oil, fuel, and LPG supply to meet the needs of all Indonesians,” Baron concluded.
