Middle East Peace Solution, Russian Ambassador: Let Iran Live Normally

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Indonesia, Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov, stated that stopping the current Middle East conflict requires returning Iran to normal life. Sergei said, let Iran return to normal life by using nuclear energy, not nuclear weapons. “Let them live their normal lives,” Sergei said when met at the Radio Sonora office in Jakarta on Thursday (16/4/2026). He cited Gaza as a real example, where ceasefires still invite military attacks from Israel and its ally, the United States. “Ceasefire after ceasefire, how many times has it been restarted?” Sergei remarked. According to Sergei, the United States justifies attacking Iran because of nuclear weapons. However, different treatment is evident towards North Korea, which clearly possesses military nuclear weapons. “Because North Korea does not have oil,” Sergei added.
