JAKARTA – A security escalation in the Middle East has impacted several flights to and from Saudi Arabia. Multiple airlines have reported route changes and flight delays as a precautionary measure against the evolving regional situation.

This situation has also affected the departure and return schedules of Indonesian umrah pilgrims, both those currently in Saudi Arabia and those still in Indonesia awaiting departure.

According to records from the Computerised System for Hajj and Special Umrah Management (SISKOPATUH), approximately 58,873 Indonesian umrah pilgrims are currently in Saudi Arabia. The government has ensured that all pilgrims are being monitored through intensive coordination with local representatives and authorities.

Puji Raharjo, Director General of Hajj and Umrah Implementation at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj), stated that the government continues to monitor developments in the situation carefully.

“We urge all umrah pilgrims not to panic. Remain calm and continue coordinating with their respective Umrah Travel Organisers (PPIU) to obtain official and up-to-date information,” said Puji Raharjo in a press statement in Jakarta on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

He also requested that all PPIUs maintain active communication with the Hajj Affairs Office (KUH), the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah, and the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh to ensure that all developments can be addressed promptly and appropriately.
