Microsoft updates Windows 11, making it 20% more responsive
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Microsoft has released an update for the Windows 11 operating system that improves responsiveness by up to 20%, partly through more efficient memory use and management.
According to an Engadget report on Thursday (15 October), Microsoft Corporate Vice President of Windows Experiences Navjot Virk said Windows 11 can now keep up to 2 GB more active data in memory instead of moving it to slower storage.
This helps computers remain responsive when users have many applications or browser tabs open.
The more efficient memory management is expected to help users as RAM prices rise amid strong demand from artificial intelligence data centres.
On computers with 8 GB of RAM or less, Windows 11 will now load widgets only when users open them directly.
The update also improves the reliability of Bluetooth scanning connections, allowing devices such as AirPods to pair with computers more quickly.
Signing in through Windows Hello is also designed to be easier, faster and more reliable.
The search feature, which now works in a similar way to a chatbot, enables users to carry out thousands of tasks directly.
Other updates for Insider members include a new Photos app with a gallery that brings together images from local storage, OneDrive and iCloud.
Microsoft says the app’s built-in editing tools now load 25% faster, while image previews are 30% more responsive.
