Microsoft to Host Windows and Surface Event on 7 October 2026

The technology company Microsoft will hold an event in San Francisco, USA, on 7 October 2026, to discuss how artificial intelligence (AI) will shape the next chapter of the personal computer (PC).

This event follows several months after NVIDIA announced its first system-on-a-chip (SoC) for Windows, known as the NVIDIA RTX Spark.

According to reports from Engadget on Tuesday (15/9) local time, the event appears to be a timely opportunity for Microsoft to share further information regarding their high-end laptop, the Surface Laptop Ultra, which is rumoured to utilise this specific chip.

To highlight the significance of the event, key executives from both Microsoft and NVIDIA are confirmed to attend, including Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and Microsoft Executive Vice President for Windows + Devices, Pavan Davuluri.

In the shared vision of Microsoft and NVIDIA, both companies agree on the importance of enabling more AI agents to handle computing tasks, thereby helping users complete their work more efficiently.

Prior to the upcoming October event, Microsoft has already openly showcased new hardware that could be part of this vision through the Project Solara gadget.

However, computers powerful enough to run AI models locally are also expected to meet these growing demands. The Surface Laptop Ultra, which will run on NVIDIA’s RTX Spark platform, appears to be designed specifically for such workflows.

Microsoft previously announced the laptop in June 2026, though they did not share specific details regarding its availability.

While other laptop manufacturers have also introduced their own RTX Spark-enabled devices, the pricing for these units has yet to be revealed.

The Microsoft event could serve as the ideal platform to provide further details and officially launch these technologies to the public.
