Microsoft Reveals Next-Generation Xbox Console 'Project Helix'
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Asha Sharma, CEO of Microsoft’s Gaming Division, has confirmed the code name for the next-generation Xbox console, ‘Project Helix’, which is described as delivering improved performance and the ability to run both console and PC games. Citing IGN on Friday, in a post on X, Sharma said the console is part of the commitment to the future of Xbox. She also stated that Project Helix is designed to deliver top-tier performance compared with the previous generation. “A pleasant early-morning with the Xbox Team, where we discussed our commitment to the future of Xbox, including Project Helix, the name for the next-generation console. Project Helix will lead in terms of performance and allow users to play Xbox games as well as PC games,” Sharma wrote. The announcement comes several weeks after Sharma was named CEO of Xbox, replacing Phil Spencer, who had previously stepped down from his role. Project Helix is described as Xbox’s latest move following leadership changes in Microsoft’s gaming division. Rumours about the fifth-generation Xbox console have circulated for some time, including reports that the device would be capable of running PC games. However, it is unlikely the device will be able to run exclusive PlayStation games that are also released on PC, given Sony is reported to be reducing the release of exclusively PC titles.
