The professional networking platform under Microsoft’s umbrella, LinkedIn, has undergone a leadership change. Microsoft has appointed Daniel Shapero as LinkedIn’s new CEO, replacing Ryan Roslansky who has led it since 2020. According to Microsoft, this leadership change takes effect immediately. Although stepping down as LinkedIn CEO, Roslansky will remain at Microsoft as Executive Vice President and now focus on broader responsibilities within the Microsoft Office productivity group. In an announcement posted on LinkedIn, Roslansky stated that Shapero was selected because he has led several core business functions at LinkedIn, from sales and marketing to product. “Dan has led sales, marketing, and product in the most important parts of this business. He knows our members, our customers, and executes on our mission in a truly rare way,” wrote Roslansky. In his statement, Shapero highlighted AI transformation as one of LinkedIn’s major focuses moving forward. “The power of economic opportunity and the promise of LinkedIn have never been more important than they are today, as the world is being transformed by AI and professionals everywhere must transition with it,” Shapero said, quoted by KompasTekno from CNBC. This CEO change comes as LinkedIn records growth. In the last quarter, LinkedIn’s revenue rose 11% year-on-year, driven by member growth and service monetisation. Under Roslansky’s leadership, LinkedIn’s membership grew to 1.3 billion from around 700 million. This reshuffle at LinkedIn is also part of broader structural changes at Microsoft. Previously, Office head Rajesh Jha announced his retirement plans, while several other senior executives underwent role changes. Alongside Shapero’s appointment, LinkedIn’s Senior Vice President of Engineering, Mohak Shroff, has been promoted to President of Platforms and Digital Work at Microsoft under Roslansky. Several LinkedIn engineering functions have also been transferred to other executives as part of the restructuring.
