With shorter learning durations, users can learn new skills gradually and continuously. As the digital industry develops, the need for future skills is also increasing. These skills include not only technical abilities such as coding, data analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI), but also non-technical abilities such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and adaptability. Dicky Haryanto, Head of the Information Technology Study Programme at Cyber University, said that mastering future skills is an important requirement for the younger generation entering the digital world of work. “Technological change is happening very quickly. Therefore, students need to have continuous learning habits to keep up with industry developments. Microlearning is one effective method because it allows for a more flexible, focused, and needs-based learning process,” he said on Sunday (19/7/2026). According to him, learning based on short modules also helps students master new competencies in a more efficient time. In this way, the process of improving skills can be carried out consistently without having to wait for long-term training programmes. “Future skills are not only about technical abilities like AI or data analysis, but also critical thinking, communication, and adaptation. The combination of both is the main provision for facing the challenges of the future world of work,” he said. However, the implementation of microlearning still faces a number of challenges. These range from maintaining content quality, ensuring learning consistency, to measuring the effectiveness of self-directed learning. Therefore, Dicky believes that microlearning materials need to be designed appropriately to remain relevant, engaging, and capable of having a real impact on the development of user competencies. In line with the development of digital learning and industry needs, Cyber University, as a Shaping Digital Future Leader, continues to develop student competencies through its Information Technology Study Programme. This programme focuses on mastering the fields of information systems, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and digital technology management. Through a project-based curriculum and a practical approach integrated with industry needs, students are encouraged to have a more applicable and relevant learning experience for the world of work. Cyber University also has a 3+1 Company Learning Programme (CLP), where students study for only three years and spend one year interning in the industry. “Our goal is to produce digital talent who not only master technology, but are also able to innovate and adapt to global changes. The mastery of future skills must be part of a continuous learning process,” said Dicky. In the future, microlearning is expected to be increasingly applied in digital education and training.
