Jakarta — The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has reported that the implementation of the Online Single Submission (OSS) system for issuing business identification numbers (NIB) has been overwhelmingly dominated by micro enterprises, with 12.982 million NIBs recorded for this category.

BKPM Deputy for Investment Climate Development Riyatno said the OSS was developed as part of the government's structural reform to create a healthier, more transparent and efficient business climate. By holding an NIB, business operators gain legal certainty as well as easier access to financing, markets, training and mentoring.

"The NIB issuance period is calculated from 4 August 2021 to 30 July 2025. The total reached nearly 13 million NIBs," said Riyatno at the Ministry of SMEs office in Jakarta on Friday.

Riyatno detailed that of the total figure, 96.83 per cent or 12.571 million NIBs belonged to micro enterprises. "This demonstrates the extraordinary enthusiasm of micro business operators in utilising the OSS system for their business legality," he said.

In addition, small enterprises accounted for 295,108 NIBs (2.27 per cent), whilst medium enterprises recorded 35,251 NIBs (0.27 per cent).

According to Riyatno, these figures reflect the strategic role of OSS in driving the formalisation of small and micro enterprises, which have long been the backbone of the national economy.

"The digitalisation of licensing services through OSS has proven capable of opening easier and faster access to legality, particularly for small and micro business operators throughout Indonesia," Riyatno concluded.
